This annual award preserves the incredible legacy of the WWII cruiser and honors the pilot who led the rescue effort, Wilbur Charles Gwinn. Project 888 SITE UPDATE
The Education Committee of the USS Indianapolis CA-35 Legacy Organization has created a website honoring the 879 men lost in the sinking on July 30, 1945 and nine lost in the kamikaze attack on March 31, 1945. Biographies are being written for these 888 men with many already completed. Photos are Included. G.I. Film Festival – Best of Fest
November 5, 2025 marked the 10 th Anniversary of the GI Film Festival and Sara Vladic’s USS Indianapolis: The Legacy was chosen as the GI Film Festival ‘Best of Fest’ Documentary.
